The Service

At the initial consultation, (no charge within a 25mile radius of York, reimbursement of fuel costs outside this), during which Denis will discuss the clients proposed project, present his extensive portfolio, Denis will explain the design process and outline briefly his fees for the various areas of work.

This work can be anything from a two hour consultation or sketches which enable the client to understand three dimensionally what the designer has in mind, up to a full working plan depending on the prospective clients budget and requirements.

Denis can design complete gardens or simply a small area of the garden and is happy to work with existing features should the client prefer.

Once the design is finalised Denis will arrange for quotes to be prepared for the construction of the garden by a recommended contractor with whom he has worked closely over a long period, offering a complete 'design & build' service.

The Planting

On completion of the hard landscaping Denis offers a first class planting service using top quality plants sourced from various nurseries giving the client a wider choice and range of plants rather than trying to source plants from one single outlet. Denis offers a planting design service which can be carried out entirely by the designer on the clients behalf, or if the client is happy to 'get their hands dirty' and help out with the planting, can be done alongside the designer which as well as being enjoyable can be helpful and informative giving the client a better understanding of the planting scheme.

As already mentioned Denis likes to plant using shape form and texture using a mix of shrubs perennials and ornamental grasses.

Aftercare

Wherever possible Denis likes to keep in touch with the gardens he has designed and planted and with the clients permission will chart the progress of the garden taking photographs showing the development of the garden.

In addition to this Denis offers an 'aftercare' service either simply giving advice on pruning and general plant care or carrying out the work himself on the clients behalf.
